"THE PITCH" batting cage renamed in honor of the great TONY FERNANDEZ
I recently had the honor and pleasure of participating in a ceremony honoring the memory of legendary Dominican baseball player Tony Fernandez.
About 100 people - dignitaries, business owners, youth and sports figures - attended the event in Sosua where The Pitch batting cage was renamed in honor of Fernandez. The Dominican Republic Sports & Education Academy collaborated with The Pitch, Lights and Sirens International, and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity in producing the event.
The DRSEA and the other organizations have partnered to help the baseball community throughout the Dominican Republic, which has struggled greatly during the COVID-19 crisis.
As the Dominican Republic slowly reopens baseball is trying to make a comeback, but we desperately need your help to assist teams and their young players as they both return to school and to the baseball diamond.
Please click here and consider a generous donation today to help the youth of the Dominican Republic in this time of need.

DRSEA Steps Up to Support "THE PITCH"
Whoever coined the term “Necessity is the mother of invention” must have known the Dominican Republic. Using a tree branch or sturdy stick as a bat, a used tennis ball or large nut that’s fallen from a tree, fashioning the semblance of a baseball glove from a used milk carton, and/or coming to the field wearing improper footwear like sandals or flip flops, somehow the young boys here find a way to play the game they love. dominicantoday.com/dr/north-coast/2020/07/18/new-pitch-sponsors-fund-hope-for-the-future-dominican-republic-ballplayers/
